The heavy-duty drive axle described features a double reduction matched pinion and bevel gear with an outboard planetary gear for final reduction. The brake system is foot-operated, hydraulically actuated wet disc brakes with a total braking area of 246 sq. in. Brakes can operate individually or simultaneously, and there’s a lever-operated park brake with a disc-type caliper located on the transmission.
